Aleksandra Jachtoma painted forms with rounded edges placed on an abstract background of contrasting colours. Over time, the difference between the figure and the background began to disappear until it was nearly completely blurred. Paintings that were almost monochromatic were created. In them, the artist explored the richness of a single colour within its broad spectrum, creating an impression of optical illusion and spatial depth. Using traditional materials and painting tools (paint, brush), as well as sophisticated methods involving tonal differentiation of the chosen colour, she uncovered the infinite possibilities of primary colours and their derivatives. Completely devoid of elements of figuration and references to the material world, the paintings explored the issue of seeing. The spiritual element perceptible in them does not include literal references to a particular philosophical or religious system.
