Jan Cybis was not only a painter, but also a draughtsman, teacher, and columnist. He was the leading representative of Polish colorism in painting, also referred to as Kapism. Under the influence of and as often as Cézanne, he painted magnificent landscapes and colorful still lifes. He was also partial to portraits, and his unique painting style is unmistakable at first sight. The artist exhibited his works e.g. in Brussels, Chicago, New York, Paris, and Venice. Nowadays, his art is considered among the key achievements of Polish 20th-century painting.
