Paulina Pankiewicz Being Paul Cézanne
13.05 – 30.08.2020 Paulina Pankiewicz Being Paul Cézanne
curator: Magda Kardasz
cooperation: Monika Kopczewska
In her conceptual project Being Paul Cézanne!, painter Paulina Pankiewicz refers to an iconic work of art — the views of Montagne Sainte-Victoire painted by Cézanne. Movement is the method that helps the artist to interact with the painting object and its surroundings. She uses the knowledge gained from endurance sports, and movement is her form of artistic practice. The exhibition becomes an attempt to experience this particular location in the flesh.
Paulina Pankiewicz (born 1980 in Warsaw) — studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she defended her master of fine arts diploma (2007). She creates performative actions, drawings, illustrations, video and site-specific projects. The artist is currently completing Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies at the University of the Arts in Poznań. She lives and works in Warsaw.
