Jan Dziaczkowski
Born in 1983 in Warsaw. In 2007, he graduated from the Painting Department of the Warsaw Academy of the Fine Arts, under the supervision of Prof. Krzysztof Wachowiak. A painter, photographer, illustrator and creator of collages – in the course of just a few years, Dziaczkowski emerged as one of the most talented young Polish artists. He won special recognition for his collages produced in traditional techniques, which are currently to be found in numerous private collections, and also the illustrations that he created for music, social and cultural magazines, such as those for “Machina”, “Architektura”, “A4”, “Ha!art” and “Przekroj”. Dziaczkowski also played an active part in the artistic life of Warsaw; in the years 2004-2007, he was a co-creator of the informal group the Nuku Studio; and is also the author of installations realised in the clubs PKP Powiśle and Chłodna 25. He died in September 2011, while climbing in the Tatra Mountains.

The exhibition is the first monographic presentation of the work of Jan Dziaczkowski, demonstrating the full extent of its artistic scope. Dziaczkowski is known to a wider public first and foremost as the author of collages presented at numerous exhibitions in Poland and overseas. Less well known are the remaining areas of his work that encompass painting, drawings and photography, part of which have never yet been exhibited.
