A Closer Look at Project Kordegarda

Workshop for Adults

One of the characteristics that defines Contemporary Art is the capacity to promote, denounce and intervene. Art reflects and transforms life, and in this power we can find one of its great potentials - and it is precisely this perspective that we have chosen for an approach to the exhibition Housemates, of Ania Witkowska and Adam Witkowski, included in Project Kordegarda.

In this workshop we want, together with the participants, to think about and consider the following questions: What is the power of art? What are the limits of art? Is the power of art only to show something? Who has power, the artist or the public? How can art change society? What does it mean to create?

On the basis of these questions, various activities will be proposed that allow participants to explore, create and interpret, opening up an active dialogue between  Project Kordegarda, the participants and contemporary art.

    Housemates

The exhibition presents the works of a couple of outstanding artists of the young generation – Ana and Adam Witkowski. The authors have undertaken an artistic analysis of their own home/flat (and also of the architecture of Kordegarda Project and of themselves as those who dwell in it – between a feeling of safety and a fear of a real or virtual interference into the peace/wholesomeness of the home. The subjectivity of architecture, the similarity of human experiences, a play with context, and works made specially in view of this exhibition – all of this the viewer will find at the exhibition Housemates.
