Saturday ArtWalk: Tango on 16 square meters. Guided tour in English

Tango on 16 Square Meters was inspired by the Academy Award-winning short film Tango (1980) by Zbigniew Rybczyński. Living in small flats is an important experience of many Poles and it had its impact on Polish culture. The exhibition uses the housing construction in the Polish People's Republic as its starting point to investigates the links between politics, aesthetics and social practices connected to small flats. It was curated by Agnieszka Batkiewicz, Veronika Mayr and Xander van Dijk. During the tour we will try to look at Polish culture and history from the perspective of housing.

    Tango on 16 square metres explores ways of intensifying space, meandering between past and present, Polish realities and global phenomena. The exhibition investigates precarious urban dwelling conditions and their architectural responses through the lense of Zbigniew Rybczyński’s Academy Award-winning short film Tango from 1980.
