To celebrate the solstice, when the planet starts to gently tip the northern hemisphere back towards the depths of winter, and as we humans cautiously creep from behind our masks, you are invited to burrow your way into Rhizopolis to mark the moment when the sun sets on the longest day. We journey into our possible future, to a life hidden underground, for an aural memory of humankind. Everything is improvised, as nothing is known.
Your host, Andrew Dixon, was previously believed extinct until recently rediscovered under a stone in the forests of central Poland. He has since been seen playing a single instrument with a single string, performing either solo or in the duo (or trio) Mutant Goat with white voice singer Ola Kozioł in stone circles, synagogues, prehistoric mounds, caves and forests. In Rhizopolis, he uses the only thing he will have left – voice.

The project takes us into the world of a hypothetical future for humanity on planet Earth after the expected great catastrophe ending the current human era. In the Anthropocene, we have realised that the world has changed irreversibly, and its survival, including that of the human species, is called into question.
