This workshop is inspired by the work of Krystyna Wojtyna-Drouet and her sensitivity to material as an autonomous, co-creating element of an artwork. The artist regarded fabric not as a passive medium, but as a space of dialogue — a place where form gradually emerges through the process of working, through contact with fiber, color, and texture. After a shared visit to the exhibition, participants will create their own compositions using the needle felting technique — both abstract and figurative.

The starting point will be an observation of the rhythms, tensions, and color transitions present in the artist’s tapestries and kilims, as well as an attempt to translate them into simplified signs, silhouettes, or organic forms. The creative process will be intuitive and experimental, without the need to prepare detailed sketches. Participants will experience working with natural wool as a living, responsive material whose structure, density, and softness co-determine the final shape of the composition. The workshop will become a space for exploring the balance between spontaneity and the conscious construction of form.

İlsu Kaya is a multidisciplinary artist and educator originally from Turkey. She studied painting as an undergraduate and later Art Education and Curatorial Studies as a graduate student, and completed postgraduate pedagogical studies at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań. İlsu has extensive experience working with different age groups, especially in conducting creative workshops for children and children with autism. Her personal artistic process is driven by her love for illustration and abstract painting, and she often combines different artistic techniques such as collage and photography. İlsu is passionate about creating, teaching, and sharing her creative journey with others.
