Meeting with the three directors of Warsaw's top public institutions which deal with contemporary art, is the next stage of activities in the Office of Possobilities.
The Office is a long-term project, initiated and implemented by the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, to study the changes in artistic practice, in the art system and also to discuss the format of contemporary art institutions. Organizing lectures, workshops, discussion groups, artistic action of the Office of Possibilities is looking for answers to the question: what model of art institutions will answer best to the challenges of the future. The debate will be conducted based on a comparison of the experiences of various institutions around the world.
The summer of 2011 inaugurated the activities of the Office of Possobilities. In June, a panel discussion took place on grasping the 70s concepts of Artistic Research Center (CBA) and the Centre for Art (CPA). In July, the guest of the Office of Possibilities was Gregor Muir, director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
The time has come to discuss the strategies implemented in Warsaw for contemporary art. Hanna Wróblewska, Joanna Mytkowska and Fabio Cavallucci will present programs and missions which identify the institutions they represent. Zachęta National Gallery of Art, is the oldest institution in Warsaw, established to promote the fine arts, with particular emphasis on contemporary art. The Museum of Modern Art, designed as the most spectacular place for contemporary art, is the youngest institution, which can be found in the process of creating and organizing of its space. Ujazdowski Castle was founded in the 80s as a place of production, presentation and documentation of contemporary art. Will they be able to work with one another, complement their activities, or will they compete?
The debate will be open to the public. We encourage you to participate in the discussion!
The meeting will be broadcast live on the Internet TV Ujazdowski Castle.
