Untitled (Belly), from the Follow Me. Change me. It's Time series

Zuzanna Janin

  • type of object: photography
  • date: 1995 - 1997
  • material/technique: laminated photographs
  • dimensions: 120 x 300 x 10 cm
  • inventory No.: R-269

The piece consists of eight large-format photographs wrapped in transparent laminate. Each shows a fragment of the bodies of women from Zuzanna Janin’s family — cousins on her father’s side (Janina, Hanna, Krystyna, Zuzanna, Agnieszka, Melania, Olga, Julia). The prints are hung on the wall in a row, creating a sequence of pictures of abdomens — from the youngest to the oldest. On transparent film, Janin has managed to capture the changing appearance of women and the elusive passage of time.
