Under the influence of the work of Nikifor, which he encountered in 1965, he painted pictures characterised by a simplified drawing form and blunt grotesque realism. These pictures made up elaborate painting series, which the artist ordered according to themes and motifs. In the 1990s, Dwurnik created the series Blue, different from his representative large-format figurative compositions. The series included the painting Blue (No. 1830), depicting a marine landscape. The entire surface of the canvas is filled with waves forming horizontal bands. The painting gives the impression of being an abstract, but depicts an actual view inspired by a photograph taken during a holiday on the Baltic shore.
