Education
A project for secondary school students, combining musical education with an introduction to the world of contemporary visual arts, realised in association with the Gimnazjum Przymierza Rodzin nr 2 im. ks. Jana Twardowskiego in the school years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 for third-grade students as part of an individually designed music education programme. The workshop acquaints the participants with new instrumental techniques, contemporary composers and musical literature in confrontation with art history and contemporary artworks. Concepts such as rhythm, texture, word or time are discussed using the example of a selected painting from the Zachęta collection, their meaning analysed in the context of the visual arts and music. At the end of each meeting, participants record their own pieces of music that, compiled in an audio catalogue, comprise a gallery of musical interpretations of works from the Zachęta collection. Class scenarios and audio files are successively published on open licences on the Zachęta website. The first year of the workshop was recapitulated in the exhibition Endless Register. Images and Their Musical Interpretations, held at Zachęta in September this year.
11 films for 10 contemporary artworks, over 30 artists, 40 minutes of fun with art, and endless field of inspiration.
Share Art! was realised by Zachęta as part of the Orange Academy programme. The project promoted contemporary art, popularising modern educational tools and methods. Our goal was to show how contemporary art draws on culture, how we constantly exchange ideas and inspirations to create a new film, music piece or painting. We demonstrated that the ‘food chain’ of ideas keeps growing and that, using the work of other artists, we remain creative.
