Agata Borowa Is it painted?

15.12.2018 – 10.02.2019 Agata Borowa Is it painted?

Zachęta Project Room

curator: Magda Kardasz
cooperation: Julia Harasimowicz

I like the moment when the viewer approaches my painting and touches the surface of the canvas to make sure that it’s not a printout or a sculpture. What is important to me is illusion — painting whose reception is connected with uncertainty, painting that asks questions and does not give a clear answer. I try to balance between the abstract and the hyper-realistic image.

The exhibition at the Zachęta Project Room will show paintings — a cycle of works on canvas and activities carried out directly on the wall. I would like my paintings hanging on the walls to blend in with the gallery space. I also intend to check to what extent this space can be disturbed by transferring painting from canvas directly to the walls.
